Industrial 3D Animation is fun!

Abuma 3D animation

I’m not sure why but once I started getting myself involved in the industrial world, I really enjoyed just about every aspect of it. I use to spend my entire day helping with sales and developing marketing material for factories and manufacturers around the world, seeing incredible machines – some as big as buildings – performing even the most intricate of tasks.

When I wasn’t in the officer, I’d go meet-up with clients on their shop floors (a tour is always a MUST with me) to see what other cool things were in the pipeline… either in blueprint prototype form. I’d try to peek into engineering to see what version of AutoCAD they were using (some using SolidWorks), trying to chat-up to see what they were up to and so forth. There is just something about the smell, the sights and the sounds that were an endless fascination for me. It’s hard to describe but a few of my friends who sell products and services to the same client base as myself can all relate… its what makes doing yet another sales call a joy more than a chore.

I had the opportunity over the past 10 years to visit countless trade shows as it’s the best place to see all new big shiny machines working while talking with the marketing director about what makes their machines unique over the competitor just across the aisle. It was also a great time to catch-up with our clients in one place without having to travel across Canada and America.

When my company build industrialsourcebook.com (no defunct), it was a great time to converse about the future challenges and potential facing manufacturing. The largest of which (and still is) competition from China and India (Brazil less so but growing rapidly). Where Europe grew in providing incredible quality, China did so in providing cheap alternatives and Brazil slowly growing somewhere in between along with India.

I’m happy to say that many of my contacts within the manufacturing have become good friends through the year, even if it has been years since we last met in person. Some of them expanded while others had to close their manufacturing shops but regardless, they couldn’t see themselves in any other place… the creativity, challenges and profit potential are incredible!

Here are a few animations we did a while back which will be updated in the coming months at far higher resolution and quality!
